Smooth tips

Most smoothie recipes just tell you to stick all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Making this type is pretty simple, but there are some tips, tricks and ideas to keep in mind.
Use Frozen Fruit
The recipes don't always specify, but if you have time to freeze your fruit beforehand, your smoothie will stay colder and be thicker than if your fruit was warm. Large fruits (like bananas or melons) should be chopped into pieces before freezing. Spread the pieces on a plate or baking sheet while in the freezer. That way they won't freeze into one big lump. Once frozen, then you can store them together in a freezer bag or container.
Keep it Healthy
There are lots of small substitutions you can make to lower the fat content of your smoothies. Use skim or soy milk instead of regular milk, or frozen yogurt instead of ice cream. Add nutrition with some wheat germ, protein powder, or brewer's yeast.
Not Thick Enough?
If your smoothies are coming out thinner than you'd like, add a few more ice cubes to the recipe.
No-Hassle Blending
Add the liquids to the blender first, to prevent it from binding up on the frozen fruit and getting stuck.
Health points to note when juicing
Be sure to wash your fruit thoroughly before juicing to remove and pesticides that may remain. Some people suggest removing apple seeds before juicing as they contain small amounts of cyanide. Consult your doctor before drinking large amounts of Grapefruit juice. Grapefruit and Orange skins contain toxic substances so make sure you don’t juice these skins although juicing the white pith is normal as the pith contains high levels of vitamin C and Bioflavinoids

As anticipated, the boredom is starting to set-in with making my breakfast every morning and as the weather has turned warm, my fruit is going off quickly After I chucked away all the mouldy fruit I made a nice light & fruity drink with strawberries and oranges. It's worth me mentioning that the strawberries were past their best so had they been fresh it would've been tasty but as it turned out it was nasty! Rating 0/5

Luck was not on my side today as far as smoothie making went as for seconds I had 'hippy shake' which consisted of pineapple, lemon and avocado (avocado is a great for lot's of energy). You juice the lemon (minus the peel) and pineapple then whizz in a blender with the avocado. After I did this I tried to pour it into a glass but it looked more like a green version of you know what! That was easily solved and I added some pineapple juice from a carton and blended it again. One problem - the pineapple juice I added had gone-off so I had to tip it down the sink :-(
